Dear Pascal,

You have recently presented at your page:
http://www.mediaspace.net/amigaaktuell/international/edition0101/test2.html,
the description of Mediator PCI 1200 produced by our company.

As in this description there are some inaccuracies, we would like you
to correct them.

1. "Trashy things > on the screen - memory corruption???"...

This is all due to incorrect setting of the "memory window" jumper
in your hardware configuration. More information on this issue is
to be found in MediatorUP 1.6 User Manual.

2. Testing performance of a graphic card in resolutions lower than
24-bit has nothing to do with testing a graphic card performance,
really. In low-res tests, the time of calling functions of the
graphic card by the graphic system is comparable, than time needed
for executing this function by the graphic card's chipset.

Tests executed in low-res are then rather tests of efficiency of
the graphic system and not of the graphic card performance.
In order to have the actual assessment of the graphic card performance,
tests should be executed in the highest resolution possible
   at 24 or 32 bits.

Then, the speed of executing the code of the graphic system
(be it P96 or CGX) responsible for starting the appropriate 2D function
affects the result of the test to a much lesser degree.

Sample tests of this type were published at:
   http://www.amiga.pl/press/elbox-20001202.html

When you analyse these results, you will see the huge advantage
of the Voodoo3 card installed in Mediator against the current
Amiga-dedicated graphic cards (in this case BVisionPPC).

3. As regards the alleged illegality of our Voodoo3 drivers, I would
like to assure you that ALL our activities in this respect are
FULLY legal. We shall be grateful for not spreading this type
of ill-will rumours. More information on this issue, see at:
   http://www.elbox.com/Press/Press20001115.html

4. You are writing: "The French Company, Ateo Concepts, did pay for
using P96 with their graphic card Pixel64." It seems you have
quoted this information from the P96 package. However...

On 21 November 2000, one of P96 authors, wrote something completely
different in the Picasso Mailing List. According to him, "Ateo did
not pay one single French Franc" to the P96 Team.
   See: http://www.vgr.com/mediator/pic96-press.txt.

   At the same time:

   - Drivers for the Pixel64 card chipset were written by the
     P96 Team,
   - The P96 Team provides support to Ateo Concetps cards,
   - The full package of P96 was bundled with each Pixel64 card,
   - The P96 Team does not require any registration fees from
     Pixel64 users.

The situation with the Voodoo3 driver (by Elbox) is just on the contrary
   in all 4 aspects:

   - Drivers to the Voodoo3 chipset have been written by Elbox
     programmers,
   - Elbox did not receive ANY support from the P96 Team,
   - Mediator users enjoy the Picasso package from OS3.5 or OS3.9,
   - P96, following their shareware status of their software,
require paying registration fees from Voodoo3 (in Mediator)
     users.

   How does it compare, then?

We are developing our products with what is beautifully called in the
business due diligence. We care for what we do. We care for our customers.
We care for the future.

Best regards,
Darek Dulian
