there seems to be a lot of misundarstandings bout all those mpeg-4 codecs,
so Ill try to explain it bit more (in case someone still feels dizzy ;)

m$ produces his mpeg-4 codec (well, actually it has not much to do with
mpeg-4, but they called it mpeg-4) it was called mp41, then was mp42 and
mp43. also mpg4. it was not possible to encode avi using those codecs (all
are the same, just newest releases/bugfixes/etc) and some clever hackers
removed this avi lock from those codecs, and called it divx;) (this ";)" IS
important).

Now, it is IMPOSSIBLE (how many times we heard that? ;) to add support
for m$ codecs, because they do not follow mpeg-4 iso specification.
also they did not release any docs about it. Jacek will explain later
possibilities of having this codec on amiga,

now, recently some people get together, and decided to work on open sourced
mpeg-4 implementation, that will follow mpeg-4 iso specification. so now we
have 3ivX (www.3ivx.com) and divx (www.projectmayo.com).
NONE OF THEM IS COMPATIBLE WITH DIVX;) OR ANY OTHER m$ CODEC!.

as you have already seen, opendivx already works on amiga
(latest scores, on the same movie as on screenshot: 24fps in color mode,
33 in grey mode ;))

We got also 3ivX support ready in SC (since december last year ;)) and it
will be released as soon as we will have green lights from 3ivX creators."
