Pagestream 4.0 Beta Release 7

WELCOME TO THE PAGESTREAM WINDOWS 4.0 Beta Release 7! July 28th, 1999

This is the first "multiplat form" beta readme file. Let me know what
else I might add or mention here. Also, if you have suggestions (or
better yet, locations) for PD/Shareware/Demo fonts, clipart, scripts, or
utilities for the CD-Roms, let me know at support@softlogik.com.

PAGESTREAM4.0 FEATURES STATUS & BUGS

I'm almost done listing features in this list. Trying to evaluate and test
each feature. I have 9? or so left to check out.

WINDOWS SPECIFIC KNOWN PROBLEMS

? Remember Window Position doesn't.

? Paths are not retained properly from Prefs->Paths.

- No external scripting support.

- Font menu item is empty.

- Applied Styles buttons in Edit Palette don't stick. (Italic, Bold, etc).
Must use menu.

- Installer says "Not for commercial distribution". Don't worry, the final
will be licencesed. This installer is from the same company that we get
the Mac installer from. This version is meant for developmental releases
like this one.

- Toolbar still not right.

- DOS Output window opens with PageStream, BME, and HHV. This is a temp window
that we open to output debugging information. For the final release we will
not open this window.

- Flyout tools. Currently, to select tools in a flyout group you have to first
select the current tool in the group, and then reselect the group to cycle to
the next. This is any tool which has a triangle displayed in the upper right
hand corner of the tool.

- Document window sometimes will not be active, and it will need to be
reactivated for some keyboard equivs to work etc.

- Display of rotated text and special characters.

- Edit Palette has a horizontal window bar, not a vertical.

- Borders tool crashes

- Window scrollbar controls missing. Page left, right, goto, zoom in & out,
view scale popup and set user scale controls.

- JPG Filter is not available yet.

- Some mouse forms are not working yet. Paste, text routing, rotate,
point edit mode, etc.

- Print Setup and Printing still work in progress.

PAGESTREAM WINDOWS DESKTOP SHORTCUTS PROBLEM

If you are running Pagestream from the shortcut created on the desktop when
you installed it, then that may be why you're having trouble opening and
saving documents. A simple change to the shortcut will help -- it won't solve
all the problems (printing, for instance) but will at least allow the Open and
Save requestors to come up.

Right click on the shortcut and select Properties. You'll notice that the
Start In Requestor is blank. Fill that requestor with: "C:\Program
Files\PageStream\" , including the quotes (assuming Pagestream was installed
in the default location on your system. Otherwise edit the path accordingly.)

The Start menu shortcut has the same
problem. For those who don't know how to edit items in the Start menu, click
on Start/Settings/Taskbar, select the Start Menu Programs tab, and click on
Advanced. Use the Explorer interface to find the Pagestream folder, open that,
and then right-click on the shortcut and select properties and edit it in the
same way (fill in the Start In requestor with "C:\Program Files\PageStream\",
or whatever your default path is to the folder where Pagestsream is located.)

PAGESTREAM FOR AMIGA/MACINTOSH/WINDOWS BETA MAILING LIST

PageStream4.0 betas. Once the final version is released
these lists will be dormant until the next prerelease or beta. The
administration for these lists are handled by two-armed organic computers so
