Dear Amiga users, dear Amiga companies,

Another year, in which we brought you daily news from the world of Amiga, has passed. We are standing at the cross road once again, and as one year ago, we have to do our decision upon further continuation or closure of Czech Amiga News service.

One year ago we were optimistic because of commitment of Jim Collas, Amiga president. We hadn't expected further happenings at that time, happenings, that came and changed the future of the Amiga once again. Simply said - Gateway is not the right company deserving the right to own the Amiga. Our opinion is backed by September open letters of Thomas Schmidt, the last Amiga president so far. The only bright light for our Amigas, coming from mother company, was decision to bring us release of Amiga OS 3.5.

However, after the "big bang" in the second term of the year, several independent initiatives appeared, going its own way, but sadly, splitting the community and the energy, which would enable us to work towards one future.

On the other hand, everyone has right to do, what he/she believes in. And so, it is fair to give every project a chance. Let's say - several projects is still better situation, than no project.

"Let's also say, we know "something", which is going to be of interest to many of you, but it's not our right to make any statements right now, so regard this sentence as a small sparkle of hope :-) Not everyone is going to be satisfied though, but that's the life." - that's what we've got prepared for you yesterday. As news about Amiga & Amino are out now, let's see what new Amiga owner is about to offer us anytime soon...

So we decided to CONTINUE, at least till 21st March of 2000. This date is of some special meaning to us, but we will not tell you right now :-) So we give exactly 81 days to all players on the Amiga field, to prove us, that our effort is worth it.

Some of you suggested us to orient our service more towards the Linux news (Hello Paul! :-), but because we think Linux is just some kind of bad Unix reincarnation, - no chance here, as technologically wise, there are (are going to be) other systems out there to consider :-)

So, that's all we wanted to share with you in regards to our Czech Amiga News and Amiga future.

Our website is mainly the work of one person, bringing you news every day. In November and December we offered oportunity to advertise on Czech Amiga News website to Amiga companies to lower our expenses, as phone taxes in Czech Republic are getting higher :-( According to very low interest it's clear current Amiga market is getting smaller and smaller. Those of you, who replied to us, haven't received any answer yet, as the future of Czech Amiga News was not decided till last days of 1999. We will correct it during first days of the new year. However, we are still looking for new oportunities, advertisers, sponsors...

You surely noticed, that our website counter is not working since the beginning of December. Our website was visited by approximately 470 000 visitors till the end of November. Virtual server provider has moved from one town to another one. We hope the counter will start to work soon, and we will be happy to announce half millionth visitor of Czech Amiga News.

If you've got any notes, advices, suggestions, feel free to let us know. We know we could do better, but the source of energy, which feeded us till the half of the year is slowly getting weaker.

The quality of our service lays in your hands too, and it doesn't matter, if you are an amiga user, developer or a commercial company. Think about it please and feel free to send us your news, statements, press releases, etc., and we will be pleased to publish it. You will not do it for us, but for all Amigans around the world, visiting Czech Amiga News.

Anybody willing to join Czech Amiga News team, contact us please, as there is so much work to do :-)

Czech Amiga News team wishes you a Happy New Year 2000.
