26.8.2k iFusion: There is light at the end of the tunnel
There is light at the end of the tunnel ... and MS are sure it is not a train! They will be posting the new iFUSION interface for customer review in the near future. Since the emulation itself has been greatly simplified, many of the options found in FUSION are no longer necessary. For example, we do not need seperate video drivers for every video card now. iMacs don't have floppy drives built-in, so there is no need for a floppy control menu.
MS are looking for a handler or filesystem that allows AmigaDOS devices (DF0:, DH0:, RAM:, etc.) to be opened and controlled as a file using standard AmigaDOS file I/O commands such as Read(), Write(), Seek(), etc. If you know about something, write to them immediately! Read more

20.8.2k Amiga RC5 team Anniversary
Thomas Tavoly: "The Amiga RC5 Team effort is now three years old! We have achieved a lot in the meantime, with a lot more to come. Although the Amiga situation has not really improved during that time, the Amiga still lives and may even make a comeback in one form or the other. So keep at it, there's still hope :) Another thing: I made a booboo while updating the site yesterday, the now official build 463 client (of 01-Aug-2000) is the same as the prerelease one which has been online for the two weeks before, and has the unified 040/060 core and other fixes. The lurk mode and other related functionality is still in beta and will make it into the next build (464). This bump is scheduled later also because of other enhancements such as an improved OGR core (7% faster on 060 and slightly faster for PPC).

8.8.2k Catweasel ISA back in stock
Today, the first Catweasel ISA controllers of the new batch have been shipped. To keep the board producable in the year 2000, some cosmetic changes have been done to the "Y2K edition". Although the board looks different, it is software compatible with the 1996 model. Fitting the board is now easier, and a mechanical protection for the floppy-connector has been introduced.
The Catweasel for the PC reads your Amiga floppies as well as all the other formats a Catweasel can handle. The data is saved in standardized formats that can be used by any Amiga- or C-64 emulator. No special drives like the 1541 from the Commodore C-64 are necessary, the Catweasel uses normal PC diskdrives.

This beta, the fourth, is just a new device and preference program, since I still have a couple of build issues to sort out. Note that you must update the "Default anti-click time" in the advanced preferences if you have used an earlier beta version! I changed the format of env:sys/ahi.prefs a little. Anyway, download the archive, unpack it and copy AHI_MUI to SYS:Prefs/AHI and ahi.device.elf.604 to DEVS:ahi.device.elf. 1.8.2k AmiBench making a comeback
Bart King: "Recently, AmiBench's Internet site has become defunct, thanks to our current providers' servers failing to remain viable for our service needs. DreamHost - our current providers - have failed to give a reason for the sudden disappearance of AmiBench, and therefore we have taken the decision to move over to a new provider.
The new provider, which will remain nameless, is more than up to the task of satisfying our current (and future) needs.
Because we are moving servers, this means we will need to reconfigure our DNS servers to make http://www.amibench.org point to our new hosts. In the mean time, you will be able to access AmiBench from the following URL: http://amibench.nop.org.uk.
