31.5.2001 AmiSoft closes
"As of Friday 25th May, Amisoft will cease all operations. Although things did look promising a while back, Amisoft can no longer generate a profit it its current state. A costly court battle with another company hit Amisoft hard, couple this with recent poor figures in the Amiga sales market, and you can see that there were a lot of factors which determined our future, whether we liked it or not. Amisoft was in operation from 1989, selling both hardware and software."

31.5.2001 A1200 + BlizzardPPC + WarpUP = iFUSION ?
"The fix for Blizzard users is WarpUP, which can only be made by H&P. iFusion has to use WarpUP, and it is simply unfortunate that the WarpUP software has problems with the Blizzard.
Sam Jordan has been extremely busy, but we did receive a post from him yesterday which indicates he can spend more time fixing this problem very soon:
We have assurances from H&P that this issue will be resolved, but they do have other priorities.
I hope things will be sorted soon, but we really cannot influence the manpower placed on WarpUP."

30.5.2001 Petsoff and individual Computers join forces
After a long wait, the powerful Delfina soundboard with a DSP (digital signal processor) goes back into production at the facilities of individual Computers. The board has partly been re-designed on the Zorro side to improve performance to a level that has never been reached on a stock Zorro-II bus. The "Delfina Flipper edition" can transfer more than 5MB/sec through the bus. This speed can either be used to playback more voices at the same time through AHI than any other soundcard before, or to reduce the CPU load while playing back single voices. All known DSP functions and programs for the existing Delfina boards will also work on the new boards, including the killer-application: MP3 playback with minimum CPU load. A stock Amiga without accelerator can playback MP3 at best quality with the Delfina!
Toccata emulation and AHI software interface let you use any soundcard-compatible software with Delfina Flipper. A Midi expansion module will let you use Midi expanders and keyboards for input and output.
Individual Computers has also reduced the cost of the Delfina dramatically. The retail price will be around 370,- DM (189,- EUR). The new boards will ship in summer 2001.

30.5.2001 Exoticons
Exoticons consists of 1500 icons created from high quality box scans of Amiga games. Certainly, it must be the largest game icon collection currently available for the Amiga. It comes in both NewIcons and OS3.5/3.9 versions and is downloadable from the Misc Section. Please note that the packs are very large, and could take some time to download. They also should be appearing on Aminet very shortly.
As a bonus included with the Icons is a small intro coded by Cupid/IRIS. Big thanks to him for all his work. Thanks also to XtC for the drawer images and the wonderful Exoticons logo.

20.5.2001 ImageFX Warehouse Clearance - Get ImageFX 4 for only $99.95!
"Your eyes aren't deceiving you - the price is correct. You can buy ImageFX 4, that's the very latest release, on CDROM, for the amazingly low price of only $99.95!
Why so low?
The reason is that we over-ordered CDROMs and now we have more CDROMs than manuals. Since ImageFX does have built-in help to provide you with documentation and it's as simple as a one-click to install this isn't a problem for most. We've also noticed over the years that lots of people never read the manual anyway! Read more

5.5.2001 Digital Almanac III - Update and News
An update for the well-known astronomy program "Digital Almanac III" is available for upgrade to version 3.3.
Highlights:
* Improved and functional toolbar with buttons in the GlowIcon style by Martin Merz.
* Calculation of "killer asteroids" (so called PHA's). What asteroid will come closest to Earth ?
* IFF-ANIM compression now also done in PPC mode. Also saving anims and screenshots will only save the star map area, no more the full screen.
* The screen has a name and an optional screen bar with depth gadget is available via menu item. This allows some comodities to access the DA III screen.

Bugfixes:
* Printer output was distorted since several versions.
* Some orbits of minor bodies were drawn wrong because of wrong perihelion calculation.

The update will be sent via email to all registered users. Customers, who have ordered DA III, but haven't received the CD yet, don't need to upgrade, as their CD will contain this latest version! Read more

2.5.2001 IBM extends PowerPC roadmap to 2GHz+

Alas, Big Blue's timeframe for all this is decidedly vague - the company appears to have taken another leaf out of Motorola's book here - but the basic plan calls for a shift up from the current 700MHz peak speed of the PowerPC 750CXe to 1GHz and up, followed by a later shift up to 2GHz and beyond."
