30.11.99 SoundProbe 3 ...in doubt?
|
Soundprobe Team: "We're disappointed in the response we're getting, or not getting, towards an new version of Soundprobe for the Amiga.
I was under the impression that Amiga users wanted this, so far we've only had a handfull of people actually contacting us (thanks to
all them), but for a new version of Soundprobe to appear we need to know for certain (or as much as possible) that the users do want
this, else it just isn't worth our time (and money) to make one. I'm willing to give the response a little longer, so until we have a
clearer picture, I can't say when the new V3 will be available, I will only start working on it once a good response happens. So if you
haven't already e-mailed, PLEASE do so, if I haven't had a good reponse by the
end of Jan 2000, then NO V3, or other version will appear, and I'll take that to mean the Amiga Soundprobe users are no longer
interested, and Soundprobe on the Amiga will fold (sorry, but this costs money to keep up, and that needs enough users). We're not
asking for many, even if only 100 users come forward I WILL do a new V3, any less and I'll think about it, any lower than 50 and I
can't put in the time. So let other users know, and the Amiga community in general. I'll get a form put up here so you can register
a vote for a new SP, and so you can see how it's going. Until then PLEASE do e-mail.
More detail will follow ASAP.

29.11.99 PPC680x0 News And More...
|
The promotional edition of PPC680x0 (680x0->PowerPC assembly-source-code porter and PPC machine-language), is finally available
from the Aminet and can be downloaded now.
It now contains working example-files and a lot of new features such as 680x0 library-call detection and conversion.
Development on the sound-sample-editor/DSP called CoyoteSound will continue from now on, as well as development on the promised
3D-engine for our forthcoming game, which will feature unlimited polygons on a 68k CPU and should be at least as complex as the
one found in Outcast. Both of the programs will directly support the Delfina DSP (which will feature two Delfina speakers in
front and two Paula speakers behind for surround sound in the 3D engine). Expect demos soon...

and the pages of the Armygeddon TF clan have seen a complete redesign! I am the clanleader of the Armygeddon TF clan and I am trying
to bring the AMIGA Quake players a little bit more together."
Team Fortress is a so called total conversion for Quake and can be downloaded for free! The conversion offers some great features like
9 completely different classes (such as Pyromaniac, Demolitions Man, Engineer, Spy etc.) and new powerful weapons. Team Fortress
is made for teamplay (Internet, LAN), which means two teams fight each other on different maps. The goal is to capture the enemy flag,
which is mostly located in the basement of the enemy fort and well defended by some crazy players ;). Actually there are 3 AMIGA based
TF clans and the community is still growing. Amiga Quake freaks, don't miss Team Fortress - get some information at

26.11.99 GBE - GameBoy Emulator
|
There is a new version v0.0.22b with a very tiny
change, it's much faster. The reason for the bad performance wasn't caused by the emulator but by
context switches between PPC and 68k. Mathias "AmiDog" Roslund: "I've now reduced them by 150 times
or so, this makes GBE much faster and I might have to limit the framerate instead of adding a
frameskip option. If you want some ROMs to test GBE with, then have a
look here where you can find free ROMs for
both GameBoy and GameBoy Color. I suggest downloading the BoulderDash clone, since it's the one
I used for testing the GameBoy Color support and thus I know it's working."

25.11.99 Individual Computers giving away a X-Surf network card
|
Individual Computers giving away a X-Surf network card on amiga-news.de. The price question is rather simple:
On which day will the card be available? Call your favourite retailer and ask for the release date. Giving the week
is sufficient, exact date won't improve your chances. Send the date by e-mail to:
X-Surf@nostlgic.oche.de ...and include the name of your favourite
retailer. Don't choose a retailer at random, but your favourite one. One who won your sympathy with his nice shop,
or impressed you with good service in the past. Among all submissions, Individual Computers will choose the winner
at random. The price is a X-Surf networking card for Amigas with Zorro slots. At first there's only a Sana-II
driver available, the NetBSD and Miami-MNI drivers will follow by end of the year. Delivery of the automatic Samba
installation is scheduled for January. This special is continuing until end of November. On December 1st, the
winner will be determined by Individual Computers, and announced on this board on December 2nd.

19.11.99 Ateo news
|
The serial driver is now working correctly. It takes lots of time because there was a software problem
and a hardware problem. Ateo have A4000 keyboards with a 'big' DIN connector so they can be used
directly on your Ateo Tower case (or on an other Amiga if your keyboard is showing signs of wear and
tear). The OS 3.5 is fully compatible with the AteoBus. If after is installation you have trouble
with the AteoBus, first try to remove all your patches because some will not work with the OS 3.5 and
others are useless. If it doesn't change anything, try to add the 'COLD' argument after the
'StartAteoBus' command. Don't try to install P96, it won't work with Pixel64. Working release of
P96 will be available in the download section.

The Bad News: Payback is not going to be out by Christmas. It'll probably be more like late February.
This is partly because of delays getting the soundtrack sorted and partly because author want to

The Good News: The extra time means that author'll be able to make sure that Payback is really top-notch.

16.11.99 Wipeout 2097 Problem
|
There is a serious problem when installing the Warp3D archive which is located on the Wipeout2097 CD.
Some libraries don't have a larger version number than the Warp3D libraries of the Warp3D V2 archive,
so that the Warp3D installer doesn't copy the appropriate files. This results into a PPC exception
requester opening after the setup requester is confirmed, and after the screen resp. window becomes
black. This probably only happens, if a Warp3D V2 installation was already present and if the new
archive from the CD was installed afterwards.
To solve this problem, the following should be done:
1. Delete the file 'LIBS:Warp3DPPC.library' (or uninstall Warp3D as a whole)
2. Reinstall the Warp3D archive from the WO2097 CD or copy the file 'Warp3DPPC.library' to LIBS: by hand.

11.11.99 E X C L U S I V E ! REBOL Incursion - addition to the article...

After reading the article REBOL Incursion,

to me using very nice Czech language. She lived in Czech Republic some time ago. So we've exchanged a few emails, in
which I also asked Nora about her interview with Carl Sassenrath. She told me they talked also about Amiga with Carl,
but there was not too much place for the article, and so the Amiga part was not published. Nora was very kind and

If they need help we will support the company with skilled people. We therefor need skilled Amiga
fanatics that are willing to work for no pay (we dont pay them but if the company that the person
helps decide to pay him is of course alright) but only for the support of the Amiga market. We
will also try to get the rights to port different kinds of PC software to Amiga and sell it so the
project might get some money that will be used in different ways. This project can only exist if
we get support from the people and volunteers that are ready to do some good work. If this sounds

then bought back by some former Iwin employees. This firm will now be called Iwin Corporation. The new
firm will start business on the 15th of November 1999 and will sell various graphic workstations based
on x86 and PPC technology as well as server computers. On the 15th of November
this site will have changed to the new Iwin site and will
contain a toll-free (US and Germany only!) number for your questions regarding the Amiga compatible
workstations and all other hardware products.

2.11.99 AmiDog's News
|
New versions of DarcNES/Amiga (991031a) - Multi Consol emulator is now available.
A new release based upon the latest DarcNES source. There is now also a 040/060 version included in the archive. The 040/060 version has
the same features as the PPC version and uses a very fast asm coded C2P routine for AGA support. For this release, the audio.device
routines has been completely rewritten and should (hopefully) be more reliable, please report any problems though.

1.11.99 Innovative defines new standard for videoboards VHI
|
During the last years, Innovative has made many experiences with the most different digitisers
and systems. This experience and the feeling for responsibility for the AMIGA made them define
a new standard, which will allow to use every videosource (e.g. webcams on parallelport,
Zorro-videoboards, etc.) in a standardized way. The first drivers for VLab and FrameMachine
have already been finished and are usable. For more information see the pressrelease and the
new VHI-homepage.
