30.11.99 SoundProbe 3 ...in doubt?
Soundprobe Team: "We're disappointed in the response we're getting, or not getting, towards an new version of Soundprobe for the Amiga. I was under the impression that Amiga users wanted this, so far we've only had a handfull of people actually contacting us (thanks to all them), but for a new version of Soundprobe to appear we need to know for certain (or as much as possible) that the users do want this, else it just isn't worth our time (and money) to make one. I'm willing to give the response a little longer, so until we have a clearer picture, I can't say when the new V3 will be available, I will only start working on it once a good response happens. So if you haven't already e-mailed, PLEASE do so, if I haven't had a good reponse by the end of Jan 2000, then NO V3, or other version will appear, and I'll take that to mean the Amiga Soundprobe users are no longer interested, and Soundprobe on the Amiga will fold (sorry, but this costs money to keep up, and that needs enough users). We're not asking for many, even if only 100 users come forward I WILL do a new V3, any less and I'll think about it, any lower than 50 and I can't put in the time. So let other users know, and the Amiga community in general. I'll get a form put up here so you can register a vote for a new SP, and so you can see how it's going. Until then PLEASE do e-mail. More detail will follow ASAP.

The promotional edition of PPC680x0 (680x0->PowerPC assembly-source-code porter and PPC machine-language), is finally available from the Aminet and can be downloaded now. It now contains working example-files and a lot of new features such as 680x0 library-call detection and conversion.

Development on the sound-sample-editor/DSP called CoyoteSound will continue from now on, as well as development on the promised 3D-engine for our forthcoming game, which will feature unlimited polygons on a 68k CPU and should be at least as complex as the one found in Outcast. Both of the programs will directly support the Delfina DSP (which will feature two Delfina speakers in front and two Paula speakers behind for surround sound in the 3D engine). Expect demos soon...

Team Fortress is a so called total conversion for Quake and can be downloaded for free! The conversion offers some great features like 9 completely different classes (such as Pyromaniac, Demolitions Man, Engineer, Spy etc.) and new powerful weapons. Team Fortress is made for teamplay (Internet, LAN), which means two teams fight each other on different maps. The goal is to capture the enemy flag, which is mostly located in the basement of the enemy fort and well defended by some crazy players ;). 26.11.99 GBE - GameBoy Emulator
There is a new version v0.0.22b with a very tiny change, it's much faster. The reason for the bad performance wasn't caused by the emulator but by context switches between PPC and 68k. Mathias "AmiDog" Roslund: "I've now reduced them by 150 times or so, this makes GBE much faster and I might have to limit the framerate instead of adding a frameskip option. If you want some ROMs to test GBE with, then have a look here where you can find free ROMs for both GameBoy and GameBoy Color. Individual Computers giving away a X-Surf network card on amiga-news.de. The price question is rather simple: On which day will the card be available? Send the date by e-mail to: X-Surf@nostlgic.oche.de ...and include the name of your favourite retailer. Don't choose a retailer at random, but your favourite one. One who won your sympathy with his nice shop, or impressed you with good service in the past. Among all submissions, Individual Computers will choose the winner at random. The price is a X-Surf networking card for Amigas with Zorro slots. At first there's only a Sana-II driver available, the NetBSD and Miami-MNI drivers will follow by end of the year. The serial driver is now working correctly. It takes lots of time because there was a software problem and a hardware problem.
Ateo have A4000 keyboards with a 'big' DIN connector so they can be used directly on your Ateo Tower case (or on an other Amiga if your keyboard is showing signs of wear and tear).
The OS 3.5 is fully compatible with the AteoBus. If after is installation you have trouble with the AteoBus, first try to remove all your patches because some will not work with the OS 3.5 and others are useless. If it doesn't change anything, try to add the 'COLD' argument after the 'StartAteoBus' command.
Don't try to install P96, it won't work with Pixel64. Working release of P96 will be available in the download section.

16.11.99 Wipeout 2097 Problem
There is a serious problem when installing the Warp3D archive which is located on the Wipeout2097 CD. Some libraries don't have a larger version number than the Warp3D libraries of the Warp3D V2 archive, so that the Warp3D installer doesn't copy the appropriate files. This results into a PPC exception requester opening after the setup requester is confirmed, and after the screen resp. window becomes black. This probably only happens, if a Warp3D V2 installation was already present and if the new archive from the CD was installed afterwards.
To solve this problem, the following should be done:
1. Delete the file 'LIBS:Warp3DPPC.library' (or uninstall Warp3D as a whole)
2. Reinstall the Warp3D archive from the WO2097 CD or copy the file 'Warp3DPPC.library' to LIBS: by hand.

5.11.99 The World Foundry News
The most important news concerning E2260 is that authors have decided to drop support for AGA and make it a GFX card only game. This simplifies some of the development of the 3D game engine and from recent poll has shown large support for this. The decision is final, so if you can, invest in a GFX card for your Amiga (and to be on the safe side, it should have a 3D chip).
Any news for M&M this month!

4.11.99 TAVP - The Amiga Volunteer Project
Fredrik Robertsson: "I'm representing a newly founded Amiga project that is called TAVP(The Amiga Volunteer Project) and the point of this project is to help the software market a little bit. We will do this by contacting as many of the Amiga companies and see if they need help with anything. If they need help we will support the company with skilled people. We therefor need skilled Amiga fanatics that are willing to work for no pay (we dont pay them but if the company that the person helps decide to pay him is of course alright) but only for the support of the Amiga market. We will also try to get the rights to port different kinds of PC software to Amiga and sell it so the project might get some money that will be used in different ways. This project can only exist if we get support from the people and volunteers that are ready to do some good work. If this sounds interesting please mail this adress: official_tavp@hotmail.com."
