30.11.2k Total Graphic Mania
Programmers in the Development Department of  ELBOX Computer company have prepared and successfully implemented the latest version  of drivers for Voodoo3 cards working with  the MEDIATOR PCI busboard.
The in-depth approach to programming has resulted in full hardware acceleration applied in these drivers.
Now, Voodoo3 cards used with MEDIATOR  show speed of operation,  which exceeds the speed  of all the previous graphic cards used in Amiga up to several times!
The latest drivers support all the versions of Voodoo3 PCI 2000/3000 cards with SDRAM and SGRAM memory chips.
These drivers are 100%-compatible  with the P96 system. ELBOX Computer provides complete support  for the drivers released. Please contact: Voodoo3@elbox.com.
Work on the drivers is being continued so as to ensure their full compatibility with newer graphic systems.

Xami r020 - is an X11 server for Amiga that can take advantage of hardware capabilities of the graphic system for acceleration. It may be launched from Workbench or CLI, uses the current keyboard mapping and does not need any extra libraries such as ixemul. Owners of graphic cards that have Picture in Picture capabilities with Picasso96 will benefit to use the server in a PIP window. So, if you have around you a machine with X11 capabilities such as a Linux or a BSD box, this is the software to have.

15.11.2k P96 "patch" VooDoo Mediator Drivers Not 'legalize'
There was message posted on one of the Mediator mailing list from the Main author of P96:
"Hi, there is no Voodoo3 driver for Picasso96, because Elbox has obviously created and actually _distributed_ one without any permission from us. We will not support this driver in any way unless Elbox legalizes this driver. Be prepared to have new Picasso96 releases that won't work at all with Mediator hardware installed. Sorry, but we can not just let this happen... Regards, Alexander Kneer." - I got 2 emails today from someone that had emailed the P96 authors and it says the same things.

A quick look at the P96 homepage, on the Distribution page has the following information:
"Developing software for Picasso96 is free, development of Picasso96 hardware drivers is restricted to non-commercial projects, old hardware or - if a licence is obtained from the authors - new hardware products. We reserve the right to decide whether to provide support for a certain project or not. Writing and issuing hardware drivers without the written approval of the Picasso96 authors will not be tolerated. Licensing Companies that want to sell graphics cards or other products with Picasso96 as the core driver system must license Picasso96 from: Kneer & Abt GbR. Masurenweg 6a D-89233 Neu-Ulm Germany The licence fees are based on the complexity of the product and the number of units sold. We request about 3 to 5 per cent of the retail price with a minimum of about DM 10."

14.11.2k Hyperion & Warp3D author on VooDoo-Warp3D driver for Mediator
Hans-Jörg Frieden: "Hi! First of all I have to say that Hyperion has not promised anything, since Warp3D is not a Hyperion project. It is a joint effort between Sam Jordan, Thomas Frieden and myself. We will do drivers if possible. First of all we'll have to see what "100% compatible with Picasso96" means. Warp3D makes some assumptions about the internal workings of both CyberGraphX and Picasso96 that go beyond mere API compatibility. It is definately too early to say anything specific. We'll need a bit more time to evaluate the situation. Developing a hardware driver will take time - Elbox took some time to bring out this driver, so please allow us a bit of time to make the 3D part. This is not a paid-for job, so it needs to be done in spare time... Best regards, Hans-Joerg."

[..] On the issue of compatibility, it seems that the Elbox Voodoo3 driver is a real Picasso96 driver, so things should work out. But as I said, the matter requires more investigation, but we'll start development of the driver ASAP."

Since the Amiga development in our company has stopped we are now releasing sources but ask developers to seriously question their goals when releasing new propietary driver systems on a decreasing market. It is just about game-programming like story/inventory/bobs, some effects, and resolving bugs. Everything else is ready and easy to use. You will need an Amiga with min 20MB RAM and a fast cpu (68030+) for compilation and an installed GNU-C version 2.91.66 (GCC/EGCS) or higher and GeekGadgets.
The programmer does not have to do all of the work. They are planing a cooperation with the actual programmer because he has not longer the possibility to spent all of his time on the programming of the engine. The payment will be percentage of every sold game.

9.11.2k Ovate seeks developers/consultants for leading-edge Internet development
While Ovate isn't an Amiga-related company as such, it was founded by Amiga people and does still employ Amiga people. We like to think that we develop with an Amiga-inspired approach to efficiency, extensibility and quality. It will come as no surprise that all the leading-edge technologies from AmigaSoc such as the postcode-based user group locator and Aminet Hunter are all derived from Ovate technology. We see our future goals being very compatible with those proposed by Amiga (in fact we already have our SDK!). All our deployment goes on UNIX machines (specifically, Solaris). Read more

8.11.2k Octamed SoundStudio V2
According to OctaMED SoundStudio website a new Amiga version 2 of OctaMED SoundStudio is slowly being developed. It was originally aimed for release in late 2000. However, the new authors have received very little input from potential users and are unsure as to how many customers a new Amiga version might have. Therefore, if you truly want to see the next V2 completed, you are requested to send an e-mail to: KatoDev, in the subject area please place: "I want a new Amiga V2" and in the main message window please tell them that you desperately want to see the new Amiga version. Since two weeks, a revised version of the X-Surf ethernet board is shipping. The changes are: X-Surf ist now Draco-compatible, full performance with RBM OnBoard zorro expansion, IDE-timing improved.

Because of the Euro currency being continously weak against the US Dollar, The size of the flash memory on the Buddha Flash controller had to be reduced to 32K due to increasing prices.
The initial plan was to use the extended memory for a mouse driver by an external company that has not been provided for months now, so the reduction of memory is not a drawback for anybody.

During the week from November 13th to 17th, the gamma-test of the ISDN-Surfer will start.
For this test, individual Computers are looking for Amiga-users with very special setups and ISDN phone lines that are NOT provided by Germany's Deutsche Telekom. Users who had problems with ISDN boards by other vendors before are also welcome to put the ISDN surfer to an especially hard test. After the short and therefore very successful beta-phase, proper function must be tested with uncommon setups. Gamma-testers only pay 150,- DM plus shipping and handling for the ISDN Surfer. If you want to register for the test, just send individual Computers an e-mail.

5.11.2k Nightlong problems
Vaclav Misek: "Nightlong is definitely the best point&click adventure for Amiga since Monkey Island series but there are a few serious problems. The first one and IMO the most serious is that CDs I received (I received second copy for review with the same results) appear to have R/W errors in majority of CD-ROM drives and even in CD-Writers (it seems, this is due bad quality of medias or wrong duplication process).
It`s also strange that masters were prepared by Windows burning software and are in Joliet file-format, instead of RockRidge or ISO9660 with long names. It means, that you need cd filesystem which supports Joliet, for example CacheCDFS, the latest AsimCDFS or Allegro. There are also some minor problems with CD names covered by additional info from clickBOOM. I emailed to clickBOOM about R/W problem many times, but no responce from them at all.
